HUD Official Ben Carson Sent To ‘Live’ In NYC Public Housing Is One Of Trump’s Sunken Place Frauds

Secretary of HUD Ben Carson sent one of President Trump’s most loyal Black supporters Monday to live temporarily in New York City public housing to find out what we already know about the poor quality of the projects.

Lynne Patton announced on Sunday that she will live in four different public housing properties for one week each as a guest of four families, the New York Daily News reported.

The deplorable quality of New York City’s public housing projects is well documented—from the lack of heat and hot water in the winter to lead paint and rodent infestations. Yet Carson dispatched Patton apparently as part of HUD’s plan announced last month to monitor the largest public housing authority in the nation.

Public housing residents who deal with the conditions daily were beyond skeptical about the move.

“Who the hell is Lynne Patton? Anything from Trump I don’t trust. I don’t think she wants to help,” said Carline Campbell, a 20-year resident of the Patterson Houses in the Bronx, where Patton was expected to stay first.

The answer to that question probably won’t please any residents? Patton is a longtime Trump family employee who has no experience in public housing, according to the Washington Post. She also has a history of denying that Trump is racist, as well as actively defending the president against charges of racism.

Patton was also one of two Trump campaign aides whom Omarosa Manigault Newman said she secretly recorded strategizing on how to cover up a Trump racial slur. When Manigault Newman was on the Trump team, she claimed she joined Patton and Katrina Pierson in discussing how to prevent or manage any possible fallout from Trump using the N-word when he hosted NBC’s “The Apprentice.”

At the 2016 Republican National Convention, Patton delivered a speech in which she lied by saying Trump will stand in solidarity with the Black community, adding that “Donald Trump knows that black lives matter.”

New York City officials and its Democratic congressional delegation have been trying to avoid a federal takeover of public housing.

Rep. Nydia Velazquez, D-Brooklyn, wrote in a letter, “Although there’s no easy answer here, the one thing that should be a nonstarter is a Trump takeover of NYCHA, which could lead to the selling of assets and tenant displacement without any local input.”
